Obituary

Adele Josephine (Kunz) Fleischman passed away in her sleep on September 10, 2012 at her home in Elmwood, NE. She was born on October 15, 1923 to Joe & Ella (Bornemeier) Kunz near Elmwood.

On January 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Walter E Fleischman. Her parents had made them wait until he returned from the war & they happily settled on a farm near Greenwood, NE. Four years later, they moved to a farm near Elmwood where they raised their son, Arlo. In addition to helping on the farm, Adele worked at the local Wally's IGA store. She loved her job & quickly knew just about everyone in town! Retiring from the IGA store 25 yrs later, Adele, never one to be still, worked at the Platte River State Park in the housekeeping department well into her 70's. As one can tell, she enjoyed working!

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Elmwood and the American Legion Post
#247 Women's Auxillary. She enjoyed playing cards, working thousands of puzzles thru the years and going for day long rides with friends & family. She also entertained the grandchildren (and even the great grandchildren) with sing-a-long songs on the piano. (Anybody remember the song "Guess I'll go eat worms"?)

Adele is survived by her only son: Arlo Fleischman and wife, Vicki, of Elmwood, NE; Grandchildren: Kelly (Terry) Meisinger and Jacob (Janelle) Fleischman all of Elmwood, NE; 3 Great Grandchildren: Austin Meisinger; Jacie & Jalyn Fleischman; Brother: Dale (Sharon) Kunz of Elmwood, NE; Sister-in-law: Martha Knox of Lincoln, NE; Brother-in-law: Eldon (Peggy) Fleischman of Elmwood, NE. and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, and a sister Grace (Lloyd) Althouse.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Elmwood, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
