Obituary

Albert Wilhelm Louis Ropers was born on June 19, 1921, on the family farm near Elmwood, Nebraska, to Sophia (Lutjemeyer) and Albert Ropers. He was baptized on July 17, 1921 and attended College Hill School Dist. 63 through eight grade. He was confirmed at first Lutheran Church, (North Branch).

Albert married Merna (Kempke) on September 28, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Otoe, Nebraska. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, (North Branch), Avoca, Nebraska, his entire life.He was a farmer his entire life near Elmwood, Nebraska upon his retirement Albert and Merna moved to Syracuse, in 1990.

Albert served on the Cotteage Hill Dist. #63 School Board, and was treasurer for a number of years. After his retirement from farmin he help is son on the farm whenever needed and also worked at Kasten's Ford in Syracuse, since 1990 part-time.

Albert is survived by his children, daughters, Shirley (Ropers) and husband Terry Guy, of Lincoln, NE, Sharon (Ropers) and husband Kurt Brandt, of Pleasant Dale, NE, son, Albert L. and wife Amy Ropers, of Elmwood, NE, Five Grandchildren, Curtis and his wife Shandi Guy, of Tempe, AZ, Craig Guy, of Lincoln, NE, Allison Brandt, of Pleasant Dale, NE, Wes and Levi Ropers, of Elmwood, NE, Two Great-Grandchildren, Hayden and Jacob Guy, of Tempe, AZ, along with his Brother, Lorens Robers, Sisters, Hilda (Ropers) Bruss, Mabel (Ropers) Cheney and her husband Dale, Brothers-in-law and Sister-in-law Maynard and Velda Kempke, Frederic and Verena Schultz, and many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Sophia Lutjemeyer) and Albert Ropers, wife Merna (Kempke) Ropers, brothers, Herman Ropers, Elmer Ropers, and his wife Helen, Harry Ropers, William (Willie) Ropers, sister Irene Ropers, Clara (Ropers) Kuhlmann, and her husband Walter, Letha (Ropers) Cheney, and brother-in-law Oren Bruss.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 10;30 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church, (North Branch), rural Avoca, Nebraska, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, (North Branch) or In Care of the Family.

Visitation will begin, Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 12 noon until 9 P.M., and Monday from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M., with the Family Greeting & Receiving Family & Friends from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening. The Casket will be Open one hour before services at the Church.
