Obituary

Alene Eloise (Henry) Landwehr was born October 14, 1927 in the family farm house near Talmage to Merle & Letha (Jackson) Henry. She passed away January 12, 2022 in her farm home by Lorton at the age of 94. She graduated from Talmage High School in 1945 and attended two years of business school in Lincoln. Alene married Dean Landwehr on May 2, 1948 at St. John's (McWilliams) UCC near Talmage. The couple lived in Selma, AL and Biloxi, MS several years while Dean served in the Air Force. Their son, Ricci, was born in Biloxi. Another son, Randy, was born after they returned to Nebraska. Dean & Alene began farming & milking cows on Dean's family's farm. Between helping Dean milk cows and tend baby calves, Alene kept busy raising two ornery boys, tending a huge garden & canning the beautiful vegetables it produced. She was well-known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and pies which neighbors & friends often received and enjoyed. She was also quite the seamstress making the family's clothes including little suits for the boys.

Alene belonged to St. John's (McWilliams) UCC where she taught Sunday School & belonged to the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Neighborhood Extension Club for years & had just recently stopped attending their monthly meetings. She & Dean loved playing in a neighborhood pinochle card club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; parents Merle & Letha Henry; baby sister Carol Nadine; brother Dearle Henry; sister-in-law LaVonne Grundman; brothers-in-law Don Grundman, Don Landwehr & Eldon Wellsandt.

Alene is survived by son Ricci (Nina) Landwehr of Lorton; son Randy (Deb) Landwehr of Syracuse; grandson Austin (Kirstey) Landwehr & great grandson Dean of Lorton; granddaughter Alex (Matt) Lamb of Otoe; sister Phyllis Wellsandt of Syracuse; sister-in-law Kathleen Landwehr of Palmyra along with many other relatives and friends.
