Alton "Hantz" Gartner, was born September 22, 1925, in rural Unadilla, Nebraska, to Henry & Anna (Hahne) Gartner. He passed away, at his home, on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 16 days.
Hantz married Averil Clark, in August 10, 1949, at the Methodist Church, in Alvo, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 4 children, Clark, Gerald, Diane, and Ralene. While Farming, he owned & Operated Gartner Trucking, of Unadilla, for 10 years. Hantz was a member of the United Methodist Church, Unadilla, served on the School Boards for Dist. #20 & #25, served on the Board of the Farmers Union Coop, Chairman of Hopewell Cemetery, since 1969 was a 4-H Leader for many years 25 years.
Hantz is survived by his wife Averil Gartner, of Unadilla, NE, sons Clark Gartner & wife Tess, of Tecumseh, NE, Gerald Gartner & wife Lisa, of Pachtree City, GA, daughters Diane Genuchi & husband Charles, of Palmyra, NE, and Ralene Wesemann & husband David, of Lincoln, NE, 11 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren, sister Arlene Gruber & husband Ernest, of Louisville, NE sister-in-law
Viola Gartner, of Unadilla, NE & Mary Gartner, of Syracuse, NE, also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Hantz is preceded in death by his parents henry & Anna and brothers Ralph & Randall.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at 1:30 P.M. at Unadilla United Methodist Church, of Unadilla, NE with burial at Hopewell Cemetery, rural Unadilla, NE.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 10th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., Monday January 11th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the Family greeting & receiving family & friends from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening ar the Funeral Home Chapel in Syracuse, NE, and Tuesday January 12th from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral home, ** The Casket will be open one hour before Church Services**
