Amelia Wellensiek
(November 11, 1920 - September 1, 2010)

Amelia Wellensiek, age 89, of Cook, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Belle Terrace, in Tecumseh, NE. She was born November 11, 1920, in Pickrell, NE, to Friedrick Herman & Antje (Anna Jurgens) Kelle.

Amelia married Raymond Wellensiek on August 25, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling, NE by Rev. C. August Decker. Ray & Amelia raised Don, Dean, Carol, and Joan. She worked for Johnson County Hospital as a nurse's aide for more than 20 years, and had taught school in Johnson & Otoe counties. Amelia and Raymond loved to dance. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage), formerly active in Women's Fellowship, Friendly Farmerettes, Cook Women's Club, Cook Community Improvement Program. She was proud to be a resident of the Cook community and a strong supporter of education and the local school's activities.

Amelia was baptized on December 12, 1920 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pickrell, NE, by Pastor J.B. Rients, confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling, NE by Pastor C. August Decker, (her confirmation Verse: John 15:5, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

Amelia is survived by her sons Don & wife Nancy Wellensiek, of Kenesaw, NE, and Dean & wife Jody Wellensiek, of Cook, NE, daughters Carol & husband Lonnie Bohling, of North Bend, NE, and Joan Wellensiek & husband Wayne Witt, of Gretna, NE, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, sister Clara Zimmerman, of Beatrice, and sister-in-law Leona Kelle, of Sterling, NE, and many other friends and relatives.

Amelia is preceded in death by parents, husband Raymond, brother, Wilke Kelle, sister, Hannah Boden, Tena Boden, Frieda Stutheit, Charlotte Kelle, and Ilene Croisant


Funeral services will be Tuesday, September, 7, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, (Osage), of Cook, NE

VISITATION will be Sunday, September 5th, from 9:00 A.M., until 9:00 P.M., and Monday, September 6th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. all at the Funeral Home
