Andrew "Andy" O. Fossum, 77 of Ashland, passed away on January 20, 2022, at the Oxbow Living Center. He was born on June 3, 1944, to Orrin & Dorothy (Redfield) Fossum in Glasgow, MT. Andy graduated from high school in Opheim, MT in 1963. In December of 1965 he joined the Army and served in the military police while stationed in Berlin. After being honorably discharged in 1968 he married Juanita McLaughlin and to this union a daughter Andrea was born. Andy and Juanita later divorced, and he then married Bonnie Young on December 28, 1979, in Syracuse. Soon after they married, they moved to Loomis, NE where Andy owned a Ford implement dealership. He then managed Loomis Oil Co-Op and owned and operated Townmart, a convenient store in Loomis for 16 years. While in Loomis he served as a volunteer firefighter.
After moving to Gretna, he worked as a propane service manager for Sapp Brothers until retirement in 2018. Andy was a member of the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and had a strong Lutheran faith. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity to neighbors and being handy and able to fix almost anything.
He is survived by his siblings Jerry (Rose) Fossum, Carole (Mike) Zeitner, Janet Fossum, Sarah (Chuck) Thompson, Bob (Mary) Fossum; children Andrea Fossum, Jen Brigden, Jason (Natalya) Young; grandsons Aidan Brigden, Jack Young; brother-in-law Dale (Birdean) Young; sisters-in-law: Pat Robinson & Lois Johnson; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, foster brother Marvin Robinson, brothers-in-law Allan Young & George Johnson, parents and parents-in-law.
A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Park Hill Cemetery, followed by a private family memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home. Masks are required. The memorial service will livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25 with family greeting friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse. Masks are encouraged.
Memorials are suggested to Hillcrest Hospice or Oxbow Living Center.
