Obituary

Arlen Ross was born December 11, 1931, in Otoe, Nebraska, to Harry and Mathilda (Reuter)Ross. He passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the Community Memorial Hospital, in Syracuse, at the age of 78 years, and 5 days.

Arlen married Rachel Paap, in September 2, 1951, at Sr. Paul's Methodist Church, Otoe, Nebraska, and to this union they raised 3 children Mary, Greg, and Todd. He worked for Morton House Kitchens, then for Lipton Tea, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Arlen was a member of the Massie-Richards Post #100, American Legion, in Syracuse, Nebrska, Eagles Club & Elks Club, both of Nebraska City, Nebraska. He was a former Otoe County Commissioner, St. John's Lutheran Church Council, in Otoe. Arlen had Coached the Syracuse American Legion Baseball Team for several years which went to State Playoffs 2 times, he served on the City Council in Nebraska City, and Mayor of Otoe, for 12 years. Arlen also tried out for the New York Yankees Pro Baseball Team in his early years of playing ball.

Arlen is survived by his wife Rachel, of Syracuse, NE, daughter Mary Styska & husband George, of Lincoln, NE, sons Greg Ross & wife Sherry, of Independence, MO, & Todd Ross & wife Maggie, of Kansas City, MO, granddaughter Stacy Styskal, of Lincoln, NE & grandsons Zachary Ross, of Dansas City, MO, Brad Stapels, of Kansas, MO, Special Friend Vicky LaRose & grandaughter Jamie & 2 great granddaughters, special nephew Larry Swanson & wife Mary Ann, of Lincoln, NE sister Harriot Bruns & husband Calvin, of Syracuse, NE, also survived by many other relatives & friends.

Arlen is preceded in death by his father Harry Ross & mother Matilda Reuter Ross & step-mother Betty Ross.

MEMORIAL Services will be Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., at Fusselman Wymore Funeral Chapel, 644 Park Street, Syracuse, Nebraska

Visitation with VIEWING will be Friday, December 18th from 1:00 P.M. until 9:P.M. with famiy greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. all at the funeral home. There will be NO VIEWING Saturday, at the Memorial Services.
