Arlin J. Steinhoff, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2026.

He was born on May 19, 1943, in Nebraska City, to John and Leta Steinhoff. After attending country school and graduating from Syracuse High School in 1961, he worked for American Stores in Lincoln before returning home to the family farm in 1968. Arlin was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer, always with an eye on the weather and market prices. He also served in the Army Reserve for 8 years. Arlin married Arlis Pape on September 2, 1966, at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse.

In addition to his parents, Arlin was preceded in death by his wife, Arlis Steinhoff, and his in-laws, Herbert and Elda Pape. He is survived by three children: Jodi (Allen) Rowlett, of Lincoln, Sheila (Andy) Fehn, of Johnston, Iowa, and Brent (Erin) Steinhoff of Syracuse. He also loved spending time with his eight grandchildren: Taylor (Daniel) Kempf of Gretna; Austin Rowlett (special friend Katie Daniels) of Papillion; Chloe, Sophie, and Olivia Fehn of Johnston, Iowa; Diego and Aiden Velazco, and Rylee Steinhoff of Syracuse.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 10:00 AM at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Memorial contributions may be made to Luther Memorial Church or Syracuse Rescue Service.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
