Arlis Steinhoff, 73, of Syracuse, passed away February 1, 2019. She was born on April 23, 1945, to Herbert & Elda Pape in rural Cortland, Nebraska. After attending country school, Arlis graduated from Cortland High School and Lincoln School of Commerce. Arlis married Arlin Steinhoff on September 2, 1966, at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. Arlis worked as the Office Manager at the UNL Extension Office (Otoe County) for 22 years.

Arlis was a member of Family Community Education (FCE) for 50 years and active as a 4-H leader. She also belonged to Luther Memorial Circle #8, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and Service Group chair. She also volunteered regularly in the community at the Food Bank, Otoe County Museum, Meals on Wheels, and Otoe County Voter Registration.

Arlis is survived by her husband, Arlin, of Syracuse and children Jodi (Allen) Rowlett, Sheila (Andy) Fehn, and Brent (Erin) Steinhoff. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Taylor & Austin Rowlett, Chloe, Sophie & Olivia Fehn, Diego & Aiden Velazco, and Rylee Steinhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial. Visitation will be Monday, February 4, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse. Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Church or the Otoe County 4-H Foundation.
