Arliss M. Wassenberg, 65 of Unadilla, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Gretna after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 23, 1958, to Lorvy & Glendene (Toelle) Schmoldt in West Point, NE. Arliss graduated from West Point High School.

On August 3, 1987, she married Paul "Rick" Wassenberg Jr. in West Point. Together they owned and operated The Bar in Unadilla for 18 years. In March of 2021 she started working as the office manager for Syracuse Iron Works. Arliss enjoyed golfing, fishing, gambling and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her father Lorvy Schmoldt; daughter Tara (Brad) Hanes of Gretna; step-daughter Stacie (Jim) Ellenbecker of Marsyville, KS; grandchildren Beckett Hanes, Madalyn Ellenbecker, Joseph Ellenbecker, Jason Wassenberg; great granddaughter Cheyenne Wassenberg; siblings Alan (Linda) Young of Florida, Devona Kaup of Norfolk, Donalyn (Tony) Williams of Texas, Dion (Karen) Schmoldt of Texas, Clarissa Schmoldt of Lincoln, Owen (Carmen) Schmoldt of North Platte; brothers & sisters-in-law Frank (Carey) Wassenberg, Margo Brown & Jed (Connie) Wassenberg all of Colorado; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father & mother-in-law Paul Sr. & Betty Wassenberg and step-son Nick Wassenberg.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the Unadilla Rescue Squad.
