Obituary

Arnold Ervin "Arnie" Wiese age 80 of South Bend, Nebraska passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 16, 2024. Arnie was born on October 27, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Louie and Caroline (Haug) Wiese .

On September 9, 1967, he exchanged vows with the love of his life, Catherine Ann Keller, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.  Arnie's life was characterized by hard work and dedication. He worked at the Jewish Community Center, Elmwood Murdock Public Schools, and various farm jobs. Arnold served his country proudly as a member of the US Army National Guard.

In his leisure time, Arnie found joy in polka dancing, meticulously mowing his lawn, completing jigsaw puzzles and building frames to hang them, as well as traveling whenever possible. He cherished moments spent sharing coffee with friends, watching wrestling matches, enjoying family time, and playing cards.

Arnie will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Cathy Wiese, of South Bend, NE, and his sons, David (Leann) Wiese of Raymond, NE, and Steve Wiese of Lee's Summit, MO. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon (Roxane), Collin, Brian, Owen, and Colton Wiese, as well as a loving great-grandfather to Rowan Wiese.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Caroline Wiese, his daughter, Susan Wiese, his sister, Darlene Vervaecke, and his brothers, Roy, Melvin, Herman, Harold, and an infant brother.

A memorial service to celebrate Arnie's life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Louisville Civic Center in Louisville, Nebraska, officiated by Rev. Brent Kuhlman. Arnie will be laid to rest at South Bend Cemetery at a later date,

Honorary pallbearers include Rodney, Shawn, Ron, Luke Wiese, and Alan Vervaecke, along with Jeff Keller and Kimberly Cymbor.

Memorials are suggested to the Elmwood-Murdock School Foundation.
