Arva A. Stillahn, 86 of Syracuse, passed away on December 10, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. She was born on January 8, 1930 to Frank & Malinda (Weber) Genthe in rural Syracuse, NE.

Arva graduated as salutatorian in her class of 1948. She married Donald Stillahn on March 5, 1952 at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. She received the State of Nebraska VFW Aux. Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award in 2002. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Aux. #5547 where she held all local offices and also District #6 President. She was a member of the American Legion Aux. #100 where she was Treasurer. She belonged to Circle 8 at Luther Memorial and also played in the bell choir. Arva held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer in the Syracuse Hospital Aux., Treasurer of WELCA and Germanfest and was a group chairman at church. She also served on church council and belonged to the North East Juniors FCE club and delivered Meals on Wheels and mail at the Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by her Daughters: Jolene Block & Steve Vogel of Nebraska City, Lori Farrar and Warren Farrar of Bloomington, IL, Kelly (Cory) Heim of Normal, IL; Honorary Daughter: Julie (Steinhoff) Reineke of Lincoln; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Shari) Block of Eugene, OR, Jennifer Block & Leo Holmes of Watson, MO, Kristin (Andy) Kruszewski of Chicago, IL, Brandon (Katie) Farrar of Lincoln, Mallory Heim & fiancé Keith Peterson of Lincoln, Morgan Heim of Bloomington, IL; Great Grandchildren: Alex Payne and Maggie Block of Eugene, OR, Trevor Holmes & fiancé Lily Forehand of Springfield, MO, Sophia and Jacob Kruszewski of Chicago, IL, Logan, Chrystian, Gracelynn and Tucker Farrar; Sister-in-law: Linda (Genthe) Conkel of St. Augustine, FL.

She was preceded in death by her Husband: Donald Stillahn, Parents: Frank & Malinda Genthe, Infant Son, Brothers: Richard Genthe & wife Margaret, Kenneth Genthe. Parents-in-Law: Fred Stillahn & Grace Sauve, Brother/Sister-in-Laws: Richard & Marlene Stillahn, Joy & Roderick Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 5-7 P.M. all at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church or the Donor's Choice.
