Obituary

Barbara Alice Maude (Macmarquis) Wohlfarth, 82, of Plattsmouth died Friday October 26, 2007 at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Barbara was born on November 11, 1924 in Kharagpur, India to Frederick and Phyllis (Scutt) Macmarquis. She was married to Norman Dale Wohlfarth on June 28, 1945 in Calcutta, India.

Barbara was raised and schooled in Kharagpur, India. After completion of her studies, Barbara worked for the Lipton Tea Company. Later, worked as secretary to a General in the U.S. Army stationed in Calcutta, India, where she met her future husband, Dale. After they were wed, they returned to the states making their home in Murray, and eventually moving to Plattsmouth in 1992.

Barbara was a homemaker, and also worked for the Murray School System as secretary. She was a member of the Murray Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Session member, member of the United Presbyterian Women's Group, greeter, spending many hours volunteering her time in the kitchen and helping with the church rummage sales. She was also a member of Eastern Star Chapter #0189. Throughout her life Barbara enjoyed reading, letter writing, caring for her horses, and time spent with family.

She is survived by daughter Patricia Harvey and husband Gerald of Petersburg, Virginia; son Alan and wife Cindy of Plattsmouth; granddaughter Alison Filewicz and husband Keith of Omaha; brother Douglas and wife May Macmarquis of Victoria, Australia; brother-in-law Robert and wife Marilou Wohlfarth of Webster, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Murray Presbyterian Church in Murray with Rev. Jeff McDonald officiating.

Internment of cremains was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.

Memorials are suggested to the Murray Presbyterian Church.
