Benjamin M. "Mike" Scholting, age 65, of Louisville, passed away while doing what he loved most, farming near Firth, Nebraska. He was born on September 12, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska, to his parents Benjamin L. and Betty (Hinkle) Scholting.
Mike's roots ran deep in the soil of Nebraska, as he was raised on a farm near Springfield, NE, which had been started by his great-grandmother, passed down to his grandfather, and then his father. This farm was more than just a piece of land; it was a part of his family's heritage, a true testament to his character, Mike graduated early from Platteview High School to assist with the family farm. Farming was not just a profession for him; it was his passion. He often joked that he wished it paid better, but Mike's unwavering commitment to the land was a "labor of love." He was united in marriage to Kimberlie L. Hopp on August 29, 1987, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Beyond the farm, Mike had a deep love for his family. He took immense pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in various activities. Nothing brought a brighter smile to his face than talking about his beloved grandkids and their accomplishments.
Mike was a people person through and through. His friendly nature and warm smile made it almost impossible for him to be somewhere without making a new friend. In addition to his farming endeavors, Mike participated in the National Corn Growers Contests for many years. He took pride in the progress he made in his farming techniques and consistently strove for improvement. Mike also had a love for Busch Pullers Tractor Pulls.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kim Scholting, children, Andi (Jason) Emmons, Brett (Jamie) Scholting, Kelsie (Aaron) Stewart, Megan (fiancé Lane Haller), and Mirissa Scholting, grandchildren, Landon & Karsyn Emmons, Taylor (James) Dirkx, Caden Neumann, Quinn, Emmy, Carter & Addy Scholting, Josslynn, Tyson & Reagan Stewart, great granddaughter, Hadley Dirkx, brothers, Merlin (Sheila) Scholting, Mark (Kim) Scholting, Jeff (Barb) Scholting, mother-in-law, Blanche Hopp, brother-in-law, David Hopp, numerous nieces and nephews.
