Obituary

Betty J. Beecham was born June 5, 1931 to Vic and Cora Schroeder and was the youngest of 3 children. Brother Marvin, Sister Rose and Betty all graduated from Walton School. Betty graduated in 1948. She passed away October 5, 2015 at Tabitha in Lincoln.

Betty worked as a county school teacher and at State Farm. She met Wilton Beecham at a local dance and he swept her off her feet. They were married shortly after on January 24, 1951 in Palmyra at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Betty and Wilton lived 46 years in Palmyra till his death in 1997.

While raising 4 children and helping Wilton farm, Betty worked 26 years as a para and a library para in Palmyra/Bennet school. Betty was also involved in the church activities, 4-H, and local extension club in Palmyra. After retirement Betty moved to Lincoln and continued to volunteer at Lincoln schools and church. She enjoyed bingo, cards, puzzles, playing the piano, crocheting, attending her 3 grandsons activities and visiting with her neighbors.

Betty attended the Walton Alumni Banquet yearly and enjoyed visiting with classmates, who continued to be truly lifelong friends.

Betty also enjoyed family gatherings, fairs, sports activities and holidays with family.

As Betty's disease quickly progressed and spoken words were difficult for her, she showed her family and friends thru hugs, kisses and tears something that no amount of words can describe – Love.

Her lifetime of faith and kindness never wavered and in her own time of need, she gave strength to her family. She will be missed.

She is survived by her Daughter: Sharon (Donald) Tegtmeier of Hanover, KS, Son: Jim (Tammy) Beecham of Palmyra, Son: Lynn Beecham of Omaha, Daughter: Ann Beecham of Palmyra, Grandsons: Cody and girlfriend Shayla, Quinn and fiancé Kara, Jeff and girlfriend Megan, Great Grandson: Jaxson Tegtmeier, Sister-in-law: Marj Schroeder, 2 nieces, 3 nephews and cousins.
