Brenda Joyce (Fihaley) Jones, 74, of Louisville, NE, passed away on August 21, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on May 4, 1950, to John Fihaley and raised by Thelma and Adolph DeWindt (Brenda's step-grandparents) in Gladstone, Missouri. Brenda would go on to lead a life full of love, dedication, and community spirit.

She married David Jones on August 22, 1970, in Gladstone. They completed 54 blessed years together – one day short of starting year 55 together.  After their sons moved on to build lives and families of their own, Brenda achieved a life of greater harmony by starting each day with the love of her life in prayer of the rosary.

As a homemaker, Brenda dedicated herself to raising their three boys … Joel, Micah, and Kevin.  She found a sense of family in the military communities they served during David's Air Force career.  Although they lived in places such as Texas, Arizona, Okinawa, Michigan, Illinois, and Oklahoma, they always called Missouri home.  This Jones family chose long-time home in Nebraska where her life was filled with creativity and service. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Ladies Guild (Springfield), the American Legion Auxiliary (Louisville)  and the Lofte Community Theater (Manley).  Brenda was also passionate about animals. Her most recent fur-baby love was Tessa, their Yorkie dog.  She spoiled many cats, horses, mini-horses & donkeys, a mule named Festus, Charlie the goat, her beloved pig Wilbur, and countless other throughout the years. Moonpie even sent flowers to her at the hospital.  In what little spare time she had left, Brenda found joy in her flower beds and ensured they were meticulously kept.

Brenda's theater life blossomed when she became a "born-in-a-barn player" at the Lofte Community Theater in 1989 with her first show, "Hey, Where's Nebraska?" Her performances at The Lofte as well as Mahoney State Park were particularly memorable. Over her lifetime of performing, she would appear in 39 shows at these 2 facilities. Brenda would do both musicals and comedies, with standout roles such as Bloody Mary in "South Pacific" and Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn in "The Music Man." She also had a love for the show "Christmas at Leon's," performing in the show twice.  The family suggests memorials to the Lofte Community Theater.

Brenda's deep faith was reflected in her music where she sang at numerous funerals, including her own father's. She spent many years in the choir at St. Joseph's Church in Springfield NE.

She is survived by husband, David Jones; sons: Joel (Deb) Jones, Micah Jones, and Kevin (Summer Jennings) Jones; grandchildren, Trista (Deantwon) Harrell, Haley (Andrew) Dehne, Kaline (fiance' Jacob Adkins) Jones, Meghan Jones, Joeleen (Austin) Sears, Brooke Jones and one handsome grandson Emmit Jones; step-grandchildren Matt (Taylor) DiBaise, Alex (Vanessa) DiBaise, and Morgan Jennings; six great-grandsons, Julian, Winsten, Bayne, Dutton, Everett, and Elijah; two great-granddaughters, Everly and Elena Jean and cousin who is more like a sister, Donna (Jim) McConnaughhay.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mom, dad, stepfather, father-in-law and, most recently, her mother-in-law, Edna Helen Jones who also made her final home in Louisville NE.

The celebrations around Brenda's life will be at St. Joseph's Church in Springfield NE.  Visitation with the family, including a rosary (7PM), will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial for Brenda will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10:30 AM.  Celebrants Father Scott Hastings and Father Matt Gutowski will lead the visitation and rosary, and will officiate her mass.
