Calvin W. Schutz was born on May 18, 1920 in Otoe, Nebraska to Edward and Sophie (Knickman) Schutz. He passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 87 years.

He was raised and attended school in the Otoe area where he made this home and began his farming career. He was united in marriage on April 5, 1968 to Roslyn Pelan at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, Nebraska.

He was a member of the Otoe Volunteer Fire Department, a Lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe and in his spare time, he and Roslyn enjoyed going dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Roslyn Schutz of Otoe, Nebraska, daughters, Bonnie Boldt and husband Stan of Otoe, NE, Patricia Alber and husband Dale of Lincoln, NE, 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Janet Schutz of Humboldt, NE, sisters, Dorothy Ropers and husband Willard of Otoe, NE, Bette Reitter of St. Paul, MN, step-daughter, Marilyn Duffek and husband Ray of Lincoln, NE, Beverly Straka and husband Eddie of Lincoln, NE, 4 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dan Schutz and brother, Maynard Schutz.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, NE with PMA Lynette Janssen officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4th from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, June 5th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Otoe Cemetery in rural Otoe, Nebraska
