Charles W. Boyes, 94 of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on December 27, 1924 to Thomas W. & Adeline G. (Muchow) Boyes in Fairmont, NE.

Charles married the love of his life, Nadine Klein on April 4, 1945 in Sutton. They stayed devoted to each other for 73 years. Charles farmed and later worked at UNL in the Horticulture Department for 22 years. He served on the Syracuse Rescue Squad for 30 years. Charles was an avid Husker fan and had season tickets for 45 years. He loved his flowers and planted many around his home. He also loved square dancing at Pla Mor every Thursday with Nadine. Charles was a skilled woodworking and would always have a crossword puzzle to work on. Most of all he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his Children: Jolene Whitehead of Geneva, Bill Boyes of Enid, OK, Gary (Lauri) Boyes of Lincoln, Patty Pitner of Lincoln; Son-in-law: Russ Schmersal of Malcolm; 11 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister-in-law: Janet Shunkwiler of Grand Island; also numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Nadine; daughter: Pamela Schmersal; son-in-law: Mark Pitner; brother & sister-in-law: Kenny & Elaine Boyes; sisters & brothers-in-law: Helen & Dan Sorgenfri, Lola Mae & Jerry Manthei; sister-in-law & brother-in-law: LaVone & Alvin Mierau; brother-in-law: Martyn Shunkwiler.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
