Charles "Charlie" John Harris, 90, of Papillion, formerly of Springfield, passed away April 4, 2023, at Hillcrest Cottages in Papillion, Nebraska. He was born February 20, 1933, to Curtis and Ina (Scott) Harris in Avoca, Iowa.
After graduating from Avoca High School, Charlie served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War 1953 – 1955 followed by a number of years in the Army Reserves. After his military service, Charlie began what would become a very successful career as a Dental Supply Sales Representative, where he spent much of his time on the road. In May of 1993, he married Sharon Denney in Springfield, Nebraska. She would join Charlie on many of his sales travels. After retirement in 1998, Charlie and Sharon continued traveling "coast to coast and border to border", for fun this time, instead of work. In addition to hard work and traveling, Charlie had a passion for cars. He was a 50-year member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Car Club, even achieving the position of National Director of the Big Country Region.
Charlie is survived by his wife Sharon, son, Mark (Erika) Harris, daughter-in-law, Pam Harris, grandchildren, Tristan (C.C.) Harris, Dan (Rachel) Harris, Tom (Brittany) Harris, and Matt (Alyssa) Harris, six great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, step-sons, Lynn Hanson and Charlie Hanson, step-grandchildren, Curt (Lori) Hanson, Tara (Greg) Wagner, Cody Hanson, Travis (Emily) Hanson, Kaye Lanie (Ryan) Colling, 12 step-great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, sisters, Margie Pryor and Alta Lambrecht. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and son Daniel and infant son, Greg, sister, Mary O'Brien, brothers, Norman, Marvin, Larry and Lavern Harris.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Louisville, Nebraska. Reverend Jon Sollberger will be officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, 2023, from 6 – 8 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Family graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Voss Mohr Cemetery in Millard, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
