Charles "Chuck" Larmon Dobbs of Weeping Water, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 20, 2020, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 84.

Chuck was born on September 13, 1936, to Charles A. and Luella J. (Williams) Dobbs in Clatskanie, Oregon. He was known as "Chuck" to everyone except his mother, who always referred to him as Charles. He graduated from high school in Ackley, IA, in 1954. Immediately after, he joined the Iowa National Guard, serving for 8 years from 1954-1962.

On May 6, 1966, he married Dixie L. Ruroden and in 1967 they moved to Weeping Water, NE, where they raised three children, Jacki, Cathy, and Kevin. Chuck worked as office manager for Sargent Calcium Company for 25 years. In 1987 Chuck built and managed the Weeping Water Express Lane where he enjoyed socializing with patrons for 15 years before selling the store and retiring in 2002.

Chuck had two main passions in life - his family and helping others - and lived his life in a way that showcased both of these passions. He was a devoted family man and found true joy in taking care of his yard and his home. He loved serving as taxi driver for his grandkids, shuttling them back and forth to appointments and sports practices. He rarely missed an activity involving the grandkids, including birthday parties, concerts, ball games, confirmations, and graduations. Family get-togethers hold great memories of Chuck's subtle but wry sense of humor while playing games that would often catch the grandkids off guard and leave them laughing uncontrollably. Chuck and Dixie enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Nova Scotia, Australia, Maine, Branson, and for a number of years to South Padre in the winter. Chuck especially enjoyed traveling around the country to watch Kevin coach women's basketball. Other hobbies included playing golf, keno, and watching sports.

The majority of Chuck's life was spent serving others. He was a Little League coach and Cub Scout Leader, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served on the Weeping Water School Board, Fraternal Order of Masons, Chamber of Commerce, Church Council, and Limestone Days Committees. His most recent passion was volunteering at Bryan Hospital where he enjoyed visiting with patients.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Dobbs; daughters: Jacalyn Groesser of Ralston and Cathy (Tim) Callaway of Elmwood; son, Kevin Dobbs of Texarkana, TX; 5 grandchildren: Codie and Christian Diltz, and Kirstin, Zach and Cassidy Callaway; siblings: Carol (Lloyd) Rons, Karen Anderson, Terri (Paul) Jordan, Charlene (Tom) Lewis, Don (Dana) Dobbs, Dawn Aalbers; Brother-in-Law, James Garland; Sisters-in-Law: Bonnie (Fred) Heins and Karen (David) Frame; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Jo Justice and Florence Garland; parents-in-law, Alvin and Irene Ruroden; Brothers-in-Law: Daryl Ruroden, Mike Aalbers and Dick Justice; and Sister-in-Law, Joan Dobbs.
