OBITUARY

DARLENE MAY MEYERS

Darlene May Meyers was born on May 11, 1930 in Otoe, Nebraska to Herman Fritz and Elsie Viola (Tibbits) Meyers. She passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Darlene was raised and lived in the Otoe area her entire life. She proudly served her country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. She worked as a typist for an insurance agency for many years. Darlene was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, Nebraska where she was involved with the ELCW.

She is survived by her brother Gaylord Meyers and wife Hedi of Otoe, NE; Niece, Vicki Hoopes of West Plains, MO; Grand Nephew, Thomas (Dagan) Hoopes and wife Mindy and their children, Camen, Hailey and Hannah Hoopes all of Bakersfield, MO; Grand Niece Candice Hoopes and her son Gavin Hoopes both of Willow Springs, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Meyers and sister, Gayle Martin.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe, Nebraska with Vicar Mark Ekstrom and PMA Lynette Janssen officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15th from Noon until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment with full military rites will be held in the Otoe Cemetery, Rural Otoe, Nebraska.

Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Otoe Cemetery.
