Darline L Thoms, 94 of Avoca was born November 3, 1929 near Unadilla to Ray and Rosa Callaway.  She passed away April 8, 2024 in Syracuse.

Darline married LeRoy Thoms on June 25, 1951.  To this union 2 children were born, Kathryn and Ron. Dancing and visiting with friends were favorite past times as well as staying busy on the farm.

Darline went to college at Peru State and taught school for 3 years.  Soon after, she went to work at the ASCS (FSA) office for 32 years.  She helped LeRoy and Ron on the farm, drove truck during harvest well into her 80's. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Altar Society and the Avoca Town Hall committee.  She liked to sew and quilt, making beautiful treasures for all of us to enjoy.  She loved her garden and her flowers, canning and freezing corn, pickles and pickled beets often enlisting the help of her grandchildren.

Darline was proud of and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved visiting and hearing their stories of their lives and adventures.

Darline was proceeded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy, daughter Kathryn, siblings Donna (Jerry) Thoms, Marlin Callaway, Larry Callaway, Rosella Frank, Faye (Thomas), Gary (Vicki) and sister in law Judy Callaway.  Survived by son, Ron (Maggie), brother Robert Callaway and sister Shirley (Jim) Hall. Survived by grandchildren, Jessica (Matt), Whitney (Engin), Colton, Devin (Jeff), Angie (Dave), Jenny (Jon), Sarah (Brad), Katie (Chris),  14 great grandchildren and many relatives and good friends.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmwood. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. all at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
