Darrel L. Mitts was born on January 12, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Harrison W. and Maude M. (Porter) Mitts. He passed away at this home surrounded by family on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Darrel grew up in Mt. Pleasant and attended school there. He met and was married to Betty L. Calhoun on September 10, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. After marriage, he entered in the Unite States Navy serving one year at the end of World War II. Darriel spent most of his working years as a over the road truck driver, many of those years, he and Betty drove the truck together.

Darrel was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Lepert-Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543.

He is survived by his two daughters, : Judy Cihacek and husband Rich of Plattsmouth, NE; Connie Woodring and husband Dave of Tekamah, NE; 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren

He wass Preceded in Death by: Parents, Wife: Betty L. Mitts (June 18, 2006) and a Brother.

Funeral Services will held on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home in Plattsmouth with Rev. Michael McGregor officiaiting.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 1:00 until 9:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Rural Plattsmouth.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Judes Research Hospital.
