David A. Baumeister age 58 of Murdock, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at his home in rural Murdock, Nebraska. He was born on October 28, 1964 in Spencer, Iowa to Don E. and Helen L. (Thorne) Baumeister.
David was raised on the family farm near Everly, Iowa and graduated from Everly High School.
Following High School, he joined his family in the operation of the farm. He met Jean Rudkin at
a dance and the two were later united in marriage on March 27, 1993 in Tomah, Wisconsin.
They eventually made their home in rural Murdock, where they raised their two sons, Justin and
Quintin.
David was proud of his service to his country as a sergeant in the US Army A Battery 1-194th
Field Artillery of the 34th Infantry division where he served 20+ years. He was deployed during
Operation Enduring Freedom.
Throughout his life, David shared his love for athletics with his children and the youth of the
community, coaching their baseball, basketball, and football teams. His coaching instilled values
of respect, hard work, and perseverance into many young athletes
under his guidance.
Not only did David contribute to the sports scene through coaching, but he also played a role in
the Elmwood-Murdock football games, tracking stats for the high school team. David found
comfort and joy in music. He lent his voice to the church choir, his commitment to faith and his
ability to express it through song touched the hearts of many within the community.
David had a zest for life that extended beyond sports and music. He loved the great outdoors and found solace in camping trips where he could relax and explore the history of the US. Gathering around the campfire with family and friends, he would entertain them with his humor through sarcasm that could bring laughter in even the toughest of times.
Above all, David cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was his wife, children, and grandchild, of whom he loved to show pictures of and proudly talked about to everyone. He poured his heart and soul into providing love, guidance, and unwavering support to his children and grandchild. His dedication to his family was a shining example of the kind of person he was—selfless, compassionate, and always there when needed.
