Obituary

Donald Douglas Dobbs age 88 of Louisville, NE passed peacefully on Tuesday Nov. 12th, 2024 in the arms of his wife of 65 years and surrounded by family. Donald was born in Gentryville, MO on February 7th, 1936 to Wayne and Myrtle Dobbs.

When Donald met the love of his life Bonnie K. McGrew, they married after 8 short weeks, and together they would raise their four children Doug, Craig, Tammy, and Michelle. They had seven grandchildren: Jody, Amanda, Krystin, Shawn, Tony, Christopher, and Colin. Donald and Bonnie enjoyed 65 years of loving marriage and together taught the meaning of true love and family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them life lessons that cannot be replaced.

Donald graduated from Louisville High School in 1954 and went on to start a carpenter apprenticeship and moved on to a superintendent position at Peter Kiewit and Sons as a member of LU 1606. He worked for PKS for 40 years and in that time worked on all manner of projects from auditoriums, concrete plants, mines, event centers, airports, air control centers, and high rise towers. He traveled all across the country for these projects but he would never leave his wife and children behind; everywhere he went, they went.

Donald's passions included restoring classic cars, metal fabrication such as belt buckles and jewelry, tractors, knife collecting, and classic firearms. He loved flea markets, car shows, camping, and farm and tractor shows with his wife and youngest grandson Colin. He belonged to the NRA Golden Eagles, and the Wichita Knife and Gun Club. He was passionate about his craft and believed that the only products to be produced should be of the highest quality.

Donald is survived by his Loving Wife Bonnie, Son Craig, Daughter Tammy, Daughter Missy, Grandchildren Jodie (Mike), Amanda (Curtis), Tony (Tommie), Chris (Elizabeth), Krystin (Coleman), Shawn (Allyssa), Colin (Kristina), Sister Bonnie, and Fourteen great grandchildren. Donald is preceded in death by his Father Wayne, Mother Myrtle, Wife Shirley, Son Doug, Brother Kenny.
