Donald W. Stubbendeck was born on August 1, 1929 in Weeping Water, Nebraska to William Henry and Edith Etta (Dwinell) Stubbendeck. He passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home in rural Syracuse surrounded by family at the age of 80 years, one month and twenty-one days.
Don began his schooling in Weeping Water and later graduated from Lincoln High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Wenninger on November 16, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska and together they farmed and raised three daughters, Linda, Nancy and Debra. Don was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church and the Syracuse Rural Fire Board. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making tractors for his family. He took great joy in the time he was able to spend with this grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Stubbendeck of Syracuse, NE; daughters, Linda Young and husband Marv of Monument, CO; Nancy Pietzyk and husband Bruce of Eagle, NE; Debra Kreifels and husband Daniel of Syracuse, NE; Seven Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded by his parents, Wm. Henry and Edith Stubbendeck, brothers, Ronald and Elton and sisters, Eileen and Geraldine.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Lutheran Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse, Nebraska with Rev. Mike Widner officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 24th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Friday, September 25th from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse, Nebraska
