Obituary

Donita McCoy was born March 10, 1924, in Elk Creek, Nebraska to John Robert and Ida May (Stanton) Witlock. She died Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Clarkson Hospital, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Donita wanted to serve the United States by being a part of the United Sates Navy, but weighed only 90 pounds and the minimum allowed was 100 pounds.. She was told to go home and put on some weight. A few weeks later, she tried again and her weight was exactly 100 pounds, so she realized her dream and became part of the United States Navy. The Navy was quite an adventure for a small-town Tecumseh, Nebraska girl! After her discharge in 1946, she married Donald LeRoy McCoy on January 25, 1947, in Seneca, Kansas, and to this union they raised a daughter Jo. Donita was a faithful member of the Louisville Christian Church, Royal Neighbors of America, the Senior Citizen's Center of Louisville, and the American Legion. She was proud of having Season Tickets to the University of Nebraska Football Games, and even attend the recent Gator Bowl. She often worked for Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home assisting at funerals and visitations.

Donita is survived by her daughter Jo Carole Myers and special friend Larry Bludorn, of LaVista, Nebraska, 2 grandsons Perry Myers, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeremy Myers, of Lincoln, Nebraska, along with 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and sister-in-law Norma Tiller and many friends.

Donita is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2003, grandson Gregg, and 9 brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be Friday, May 30, 2014, at First Christian Church, at 2;00 P.M.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. all at the Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
