Dorothy A. Sailor, 80 of Syracuse, passed away on August 26, 2024, at her home. She was born on March 5, 1944, in Avoca, NE to Emery & Leona (Pope) Voyles. On January 16, 1963, she married Bruce Vogt, and they were blessed with a son Jeff. After their divorce, Dot married Terry "Zippy" Sailor at Rocket Lanes in Syracuse on July 29, 1983.
Along with Zippy, Dot helped run Rocket Lanes until it closed. She then worked at Casey's in Syracuse until her retirement. Dot was a lifelong bowler, had a passion for reading and was an avid Kansas City Royal fan. She also enjoyed playing Keno or going to the casino to play the slot machines. Most importantly in Dot's life was her grandchildren and she loved to attend all their events.
She is survived by her son Jeff (Angie) Vogt of Syracuse; stepson Paul (Karleen) Sailor of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren Andrew (Louise) Vogt of Syracuse, Adam (Kristen) Vogt of Yutan; step grandchildren Ben Sailor & Hailey Sailor both of Houston; great grandchildren Levi, Joseph & Ava Vogt of Yutan, James Vogt of Syracuse; sister Ella Johnson of Avoca; sisters-in-law Maggie Voyles of Elmwood, Mickey Gray of El Centro, CA, JoAnn Groves of El Centro, CA, Sherrie Corbin of Anchorage, AK; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Terry "Zippy" Sailor, siblings Carl Voyles, Harry Voyles, Connie Yegge; brothers-in-law Roger Gray, Ervin Groves, Robert Sailor; sister-in-law Ruby Sailor and stepfather Carrol "Bud" Marcus.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Rescue Squad or Project Pink.
