Dorothy Sammons was born November 17, 1915, in Syracuse, Nebraska, to William and Susie, (Mitchell) Brechtel. She passed away, Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Community Memorial Hospital, in Syracuse, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Judy (Roy) Bretthorst, Syracuse, NE, and Kay (Harlan) Hillman, of Otoe, NE, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren,
brothers and sisters Sterling Brechtel, of Cedar Edge CO, Susie Wyatt, of Unadilla, NE, Fred Frye, of Hickman, NE, Mary Gartner, of Unadilla, NE, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in Death by: her parents, husband Charles Thaine, Ancil Burdick, and Cordy Sammons, sister Irene Zimmerman, son Anson Burdick, sister-in-law Norma Brechtel, and Jean Frye, brothers-in-law Randall Gartner, Willard Zimmerman, and Quentin Esser.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, 6th and Chestnut Street, Syracuse, NE, with Graveside Services at Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Wyuka Cemetery, in Nebraska City, NE
