Dorothy M. Ullsperger, 98 of Syracuse passed away on Saturday December 19, 2015 at the Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, NE. She was born on August 20, 1917 to Charles & Edith (Kempkes) Hopp in rural Palmyra, NE.
Dorothy married George Emil Ullsperger on September 18, 1939 in Palmyra and to this union they had three children. Dorothy worked at Gooch's Mill, helped George on the farm, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse and also the Altar Society. During her young adult years, Dorothy was committed to the family and their farm north of Otoe. They planted a large garden each year and canned produce to the last the entire year. They raised chickens, hogs, and cattle. Dorothy made many of the clothes her family wore and was often the go to seamstress for her grandchildren. George and Dorothy played cards with neighbors for many years. After retiring and moving to town from the farm, George and Dorothy traveled to many places including Canada, Germany, Mexico, and numerous places throughout the United States. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She always enjoyed visits from family and friends. George passed away after 73 years of marriage and now Dorothy joins him in heaven.
She is survived by her Daughters: Marlene Weiler of Syracuse, Geraldine (Donald) Pufpaff of Colorado Springs, CO; Grandchildren: Jay (Jo) Weiler of Syracuse, Lynn (Nick) Wilhelm of Syracuse, Lisa (Gary) Garrelts of Colorado Springs, Tina (Jeff) Zeigler of Highlands Ranch, CO, Lana (Justin) Hagee of Fruita, CO, Ira (Gretchen) Pufpaff of Peyton, CO; 25 Great Grandchildren; Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband: George; Infant Son: Vincent Leroy Ullsperger; 2 infant brothers, Sisters: infant Clara Hopp, Edith Steinhoff & husband Ralph; Brother: Charlie Hopp & wife Mary; Infant Great Grandson: H Wilhelm; Niece Donna.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday December 23rd at 10 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Paulinus Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 22nd from 1 P.M. until 5 P.M. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse. Rosary will be at 7 P.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse.
