Dorothy Wachter was born March 26, 1931, in Alvo, Nebraska, to Charley and Vera (Curtis) Wachter. She died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center, surrounded by family, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 15 days.

When Dorothy was young the kids all had a job, and hers was working with the chickens. Her family owned Wachter café from 1953-1954. Dorothy then worked at Danny Dare sewing factory in Syracuse and also waitressed for many years. She loved puzzles, listening to music, embroidering, and working with word books. The family said she made the best Cream of Wheat and hamburgers.

Dorothy is survived by her sisters Viola Wachter, Norma Jean Boettcher, Ruby Buchholz; Brother: Donald & Carol Wachter, and 9 nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in Death by her Parents Charley and Vera.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday May 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Unadilla United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Park Hill cemetery in Syracuse.

Visitation will be held on Sunday May 15 from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
