Duane J. Wellman, 91 of Syracuse, passed away on February 7, 2018 at his home. He was born on March 4, 1926 to Carl & Wertie (Klaasmeyer) near Cook, NE. Duane graduated from Unadilla High School.

He married Edith Prigge on December 12, 1959 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. Duane farmed and also ran a Grade A dairy with Edith at their farm in Burr. Together they also owned a variety store in Burr. He served on the Burr Co-Op Board and the church council at Hope Lutheran church in Burr. Duane enjoyed coffee with his friends, cards and working on his farm even after he moved to town.

Duane is survived by his Wife: Edith Wellman; Son: Garry Wellman; Grandchildren: Traci (Mitch) Grummert, Jodi Wellman, Ricky Wellman, Stacey Wellman, Rebecca (David) Lantz, Matt (Sarah) Wellman; Great Grandchildren: Eric (Sara) Bridgmon, Bronx Grummert, Brionna McClendon, Conner McClendon, Angelica Wellman, Colton Wellman, April Zaruba, Lindsay Michler, Sgt. Jeffrey Wellman, Justin Hodge; Great Great Grandchildren: Brantley Bridgmon; Sister-in-law: Lois Wellman of Auburn; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sons: Richard Wellman, Jimmy Wellman and Brother: Donald Wellman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ.
