Earl Pietzyk, 90, of Syracuse, NE, was born on March 1, 1923 to Paul and Edith (Dohm) Pietzyk, in Toronto, South Dakota. Earl passed away June 22, 2013, in Syracuse, NE. He was a retired farmer and business man. In 1948, after his father passed away, he became a full time farmer and made it his life's work to be a good steward of the land. He loved working with livestock and dozing. At various times in his career he sold feed, and farm equipment.
On June 21, 1958 Earl married MaryLee Eichenberger and they raised 5 children. Earl spent quality time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He and MaryLee took several memorable trips across the US and Europe. He was a long time member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church.
Earl is survived by his wife of 55 years MaryLee (Eichenberger) Pietzyk, of Syracuse, NE, children and spouses Gary (Martha) Pietzyk, of Cook, NE, Denise (Marvin) Logan, of Lincoln, NE, Kaye (John) Krause, of Lincoln, NE, Rex (Natalie) Pietzyk, of North Bend, WA, Connie (Scott) McDonald, of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren Michelle & Andrew Pietzyk, Tara, Luke, and Sarah Logan, Michael and Brandon Krause, Shelby Pietzyk.
Proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph (Doris), Jim (Cathy), Leo, Joseph, sister MaryAnn Morrissey (Norman "Cab")
Funeral Mass is Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church, 440 Poplar Street, Syracuse, NE, Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home, 644 Park Street, Syracuse, NE, then at the Church from 6:00 until time for the Rosary at 7:00 P.M.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paulinus building fund or the family.
