Obituary
Edgar H. Snyder, age 87, of Unadilla, NE, passed away at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, NE, on January 8, 2013. He was born on August 8, 1925, at Brock, NE, to William and Ella (Niedermeyer) Snyder. He married Nora Applegate on January 23, 1957 at Peru, NE at the Christian Church.
Edgar was a hard working man all of his life. He worked for Gartner Construction as a block layer for over 35 years. After he retired he went to work for MK Meats as a Meat Cutter for 19 years. He also served on the Unadilla Fire Department.
Edgar served in the Army during Korea where he drove trucks for the Peace Talks. He belonged to the American Legion & VFW in Talmage for 60 years. He umpired many baseball and softball games and he loved watching football games. He also loved fishing and enjoyed helping kids get interested in outdoor sports.
Funeral Services will be on Friday January 11, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion United Church of Christ in Talmage, NE, with Rev. Carla Patterson officiating.
He is survived by wife Nora of Unadilla, NE, son Wayne Snyder and wife Julie of Syracuse, NE, daughter Cheryl Snyder and Jack of Nebraska City, NE, Theresa Snyder and Don of Paul, NE, David Snyder and wife Tina of Nebraska City, NE, and Rhonda Snyder of Unadilla, NE; brother Melvin Snyder and wife Betty of Talmage, NE, sister Loretta Smith of Auburn, NE and sister Rosella Eaton of Nebraska City, NE; grandchildren Danny Childers of Maryville, KS, Jennifer Snyder of Syracuse, NE, Matt Snyder of Lincoln, NE, Trevor Snyder of Unadilla, NE, Lacie Snyder of Syracuse, NE, Kimberly Snyder of Syracuse, NE, and McKenzie Snyder, of Nebraska City, NE, and many great-children, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded by his parents William & Ella Snyder, brother Leland Snyder, grandchildren Gunner and Sierra Snyder, and nephews Joel and William Smith
Visitation will be on Thursday January 10, 2013 from Noon until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 7 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) Cemetery.
