Edna Pearl Pettigrew was born on April 14, 1922 in Panama, Nebraska to Herman and Carrie (Shoemaker) Bogema. She passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 85 years. 10 months and 1 day.
She grew up in the Adams, Nebraska area and graduated from Adams High School. She was united in marriage on September 4, 1940 in Butte, Nebraska to Lloyd Pettigrew, together they raised three children, Kenneth, Ruth Ann and Beverly. She and Lloyd made their home in the Elmwood area. Edna owned and operated several resturants throughout her lifetime including locations in both Ashland and Elmwood. She was a member of the Elmwood Christian Church, Elmwood American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed serving lunch at the Elmwood Senior Center, sewing, embroidery, playing bingo, camping and listening to country music.
Edna is survived by her Son: Kenneth Pettigrew and wife Sandy of Bennet, NE; Daughters: Ruth Ann Jones and husband Jerry of Omaha, NE; Beverly Pierce and husband Clinton of Atalissa, IA; 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Lloyd Pettigrew, great granddaughter, Kassie Stewart, brothers, Harvey, Marian, Lloyd Wilber and Donald Bogema and sister Doris who followed Edna in death six hours later.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Elmwood Christian Church with Rev. Mark Sheldon officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, February 18th from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the Elmwood Christian Church or the Elmwood Senior Center.
