Obituary

Edward (Eddie) Wohlers age 91 of Avoca, Nebraska passed away on February 6, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska. He was born March 9, 1922 to Harry and Anna (Stubbendick) Wohlers, on the family farm outside of Avoca.

He was born and raised on a farm outside of Avoca, Nebraska. At the age of 15, the superintendent of Avoca High School came to the family farm and asked Eddie's dad if Eddie would like to go to high school or farm. His dad said to "ask him," Eddie said that he would farm because he thought high school would be too hard. He continued to farm at the home place and cared for his mother, Anna, until her death.

Eddie enjoyed going to auctions and looking for bargains and visiting with friends and relatives. He spent his spare time working on and fixing lawn mowers, which were counted once at 15 that he owned. Also, inventing things to make life easier working on the farm by himself.

He is survived by sister-in-law, Lorene Wohlers, 7 nieces, Marilyn Mattox, Lois McCartney, Jane Fossenbarger, Nancy Thormahlan, Beverly Dalton, Dianna Waynick, and Joann Wohlers, and 7 nephews, Ken Koch, Clifford Koch, Stan Koch, Lynn Bose, LeRoy Ehmke, Gary Ehmke, Dennis Wohlers, and their families. He was especially close with his neighbors and friends; Glen and Margaret Stubbendick, Gene and David Stubbendick, and their families.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Anna (Stubbendick) Wohlers, brothers, Clarence, Harvey, Willis Wohlers, and infant brother. Sisters Rosetta (Koch), Lorena (Bose), Ruby (Ehmke) and nephews Richard Koch, Lonnie Wohlers, Ronald Wohlers.

Services will be 10:30am Monday February 10, 2014 at First Lutheran Church North Branch, Avoca, Nebraska. Graveside services to follow at the cemetery adjoining North Branch Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 9am to 9pm at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey funeral home in Syracuse, with no family greeting.
