Edwin F. "Sonny" Steinhoff, 71 of Syracuse, NE, passed away April 26, 2013, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on April 1, 1942 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Edwin Sr. & Hazel (Sugden) Steinhoff.

Edwin was baptized on May 24, 1942 and confirmed on May 25, 1956 both at Luther Memorial. Edwin was raised on a farm north of Syracuse, NE. He started working on Hwy. 50 when he was 15 years old and then worked at a missile base after high school. Edwin married Ronda Carrigan on April 20, 1963 in Council Bluffs, IA. After he was married he started farming. He also bartended many different places including Avoca, Syracuse Golf Course, Otoe Spur Steak House, and the Post Home.

Edwin loved spending time with his family and friends and of course playing cards. He also enjoyed playing pool and croquet and loved winning at all three. He had a great love of animals. Whenever he would leave somebody he always said "be careful" and never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his Wife: Ronda Steinhoff of Syracuse, NE: Son: Troy Steinhoff and wife Julie of Crete, NE; Daughters: Dawn Collin and husband Tim of Auburn, NE; Darci Carlson and husband Mark of Syracuse, NE; Grandchildren: Travis, Renee, Mitchell & Spencer Steinhoff, Garrett & Tyler Collin, Grant & Cooper Carlson. Sisters: Phyllis Mueller of Lincoln, NE, Kathy Royal and husband Roger of Syracuse, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, brother-in-law: Edgar Mueller.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday April 30, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Visitation will be held on Monday April 29 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
