Eldora (Dody) Bergstrom was born on June 15, 1936 in Sherwood, New York to Inez (Gilliland) and Lawrence Fausnaugh. She passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at her home in South Bend, Nebraska the age of 83 years, 3 months and 16 days.
She lived in Tulley, New York before moving to the South Bend area. Dody is a 1992 graduate with an Associate Degree in Computer Technology from Metro Tech Community College. She excelled at her education by being on the Dean's List for six quarters and graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dody married Gerald (Jerry) Bergstrom on April 26, 2014. They truly enjoyed the time they had together. Dody enjoyed life. Many people in her church called her the Energizer Bunny because of her vibrant personality and take-charge attitude. She enjoyed several Cruises with her family and friends. She also looked forward to Bingo on Tuesday nights. She had many other interests including gardening – both vegetables and flowers, sewing and crafting. Dody shared these talents with many of her family and friends. She loved to cook many things. She always canned peaches. A family favorite was a Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake. Many times, this was her family's birthday cake of choice. Love for her family was evident whenever they gathered.
Dody is survived by her husband – Jerry Bergstrom children Kenneth (Nikki Lee) Christian, Cary (Stephanie) Christian, Joseph (Mary) Bergstrom, Lori (Mark) Crocker, grandchildren Michael Christian, Jadyn Jorgensen, Mackenzie Christian, Cole Christian, Robby Schroeder, Allison Schroeder, Kyle Spencer, Tyler Bergstrom, Amanda Bergstrom, Kelly Radford, and Christian McCann, great-grandchildren – Murphy Christian, Ryker Studey, Olivia Schroeder, Elaina Schroeder, Amelia Schroeder and many special friends.
Celebration of Life will be Friday October 11, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at Word of Hope Lutheran Church 157 South 22 nd Street, Ashland, Nebraska. Burial will be at a later date.
No Visitation due to cremation.
