Eldred "Gus" August Niemann, 82 of Cook, passed away on March 12, 2018 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on May 4, 1935 to H. August & Edith (Poppe) Niemann at their home by Cook.

Gus married Sally Volkmer on June 4, 1959 at St. Bernard Catholic Church near Julian. He served in the National Guard for 9 years. Gus was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed over the road trucking. He also served on the Cook volunteer fire department for over 20 years.

Gus is survived by his Wife: Sally Niemann; Children: Diane Niemann, Denise Pope & Scott Chism, Delores (Scott) Busekist, David Niemann, Duane (Noreen) Niemann; Grandchildren: Travis Pope, Megan & Bryan Busekist, Sarah, Austin & Sydney Niemann, Marisa & Cassie Niemann; Great Grandchildren: Issac & Delilah Pope; Sisters: Melda Sudman, Lucille Kreifels; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law: Harvey Sudman, Darrel Fisk, Harlan Kreifels.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16 from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. at the funeral home, then family will be greeting friends from 6-7 P.M. at church with rosary at 7 P.M.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
