Ella Doris Riege, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Keystone Assisted Living in Roseville, Minnesota. She was born May 9, 1920 at Unadilla, Nebraska to John and Mary Kammann Riege.

She lived on the family farm at Unadilla from birth to age 78 when she moved to an apartment in Syracuse, Nebraska, where she lived prior to moving to Minnesota in 2002. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making desserts, embroidery, gardening and canning. She made the "best" pies from scratch which were delicious, especially her lemon and pecan pies.

Ella is survived by her nephew Leroy (Sandi) Poppe, Roseville, MN grand-nephew David (Christy) Poppe, Lino Lakes, MN; grand-nieces Anne (Sloane) Stegen, Atlanta, GA; and Lori (Robert) Nicholas, Omaha, NE; great grand-nieces and nephews; Jazmine Nicholas, Jordan Poppe, Mikayla Poppe, Samantha Stegen and Sawyer Stegen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

The funeral will be held at First Lutheran Church, North Branch, Avoca, NE on Saturday, December 6th at 11:00 am with interment in the church cemetery, with Rev. David Buco officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Poppe, Jordan Poppe, Robert Nicholas, Jazmine Nicholas, Arlin Steinhoff, and Craig Kimbell.

Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 9 AM until 9 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday at the Funeral Home and one hour before the services at the church.

Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church or Keystone Assisted Living.
