Ellen S. McKinstry, age 86 of South Bend, NE passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska.  She was born on October 12, 1935 in Meadow, Nebraska to Ted and Hettie (Kobler) Snodgrass.

Ellen grew up in the Louisville area and attended grade school in Meadow, Nebraska and then graduated from Louisville High School in 1953.  She was united in marriage to Charles McKinstry on July 16, 1962 in Laverne, Minnesota.  They eventually made their home in South Bend, Nebraska where Ellen worked for the US Postal Service where she retired as Postmaster of the South Bend Branch.

Ellen enjoyed the outdoors and spent time caring for her flower gardens, raising chickens and ducks.  She loved to quilt cook and most importantly spend time with her family.  After Charles passed away, she rescued a sweet dog named Louie, who became her companion in recent years.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Mark) Dalton, Lori (Brad) Graham both of South Bend, NE, step-children, Sally (Dana) Smith, Hurricane, UT, Cindy Kahland, Norman, OK, daughter-in-law, Roxanne McKinstry, Phoenix, AZ, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and sister, Alice Satterfield, South Bend, NE. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and beloved dog Louie.

She was   preceded in death by her parents, Ted & Hettie Snodgrass, husband Charles, step-son, Terry McKinstry, grandson, Christopher Jolls.

Funeral Services, Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM, Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Louisville, NE. with Rev. Dean McPhersson officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Bend Cemetery, South Bend, Nebraska.

Visitation, Wednesday, July 27 ^th from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
