Ernestine M. Henke was born on September 15, 1924 in Dunbar, Nebraska to Fred & Louise (Spier) Griepenstroh. She passed away at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center on November 14, 2011 at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 30 days.

Ernestine married Virgil Henke on January 2, 1942 in Dunbar, Nebraska. To this union they raised two children Janice and Dean. Ernestine worked on the farm all of her life. She was involved in the Eastern Star and the Library Foundation. She enjoyed having card parties, golfing, Nebraska Football, traveling to Arkansas and painting. She painted many murals around Syracuse and attended many art shows.

She is survived by her Daughter: Janice Bokamper & husband Ed of Corpus Christi, TX, Son: Dean Henke & Special Friend Sharon Wieneke of Syracuse, NE. Grandchildren: Debbie Epps & husband Bob, Lois Holz & husband Paul, Sunny Davidson & husband David, Paula Bokamper, Dan & wife Kim Bokamper, Michelle & Brian Meyer, Kristy Henke, Jared Henke, 12 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Sister Margaret Carter, Great-Grandson Anthony Henke.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday November 17, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse, Nebraska with Rev. John Finster officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday November 16, 2011 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Nebraska.

Memorials may be directed to the family's choice.
