Ervin W. Kehlenbeck was born on October 4, 1926 in rural Syracuse, Nebraska, to William H. & Emma (Weber) Kehlenbeck. He passed away in Syracuse on July 5, 2012 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Ervin married Patricia Erwin in May of 1962. She passed away in Novemberof 2004. In October of 2008 Ervin married Victoria (Fricke) Martacho in the Prayer Garden at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Syracuse, NE.
Ervin graduated from Syracuse High School in 1944 and then in 1947 started working for Eastern NE Public Power, which, in 1965, merged with OPPD. He retired from OPPD after 41 years.
Ervin was a charter member and served 20+ years on the Syracuse Rescue Squad and also was long-time mayor of the City of Syracuse, as well as other city committees. He was Scout Master for Troop #337 in Syracuse for 2 years and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Nebraska City Elks B.P.O.E. #1049. In addition to his love for Syracuse and his family, he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by wife: Victoria Kehlenbeck of Syracuse, NE, sons: Michael (Lori) Lane of Lincoln, NE, Kent (Sarah) Kehlenbeck of West Des Moines, IA, step-children: Danny (Kim) Martacho of Unadilla, NE, Sandy Martacho of Omaha, NE, grandchildren: Dylan and Alexandria Lane of Lincoln, NE, Courtney (Steve) Berg of Grand Island, NE, Katie, William and Kent Jr. Kehlenbeck, Melissa Scheller, Kristi Perkins all of West Des Moines, IA, step-grandchildren Dominic (Laura) Martacho of Syracuse, NE, Grenee (Jarrod) Celuch of Scottsdale, AZ, great grandchildren: Miranda, Justice and Colton Berg, Bradley Scheller, step-great grandchildren Connor & Ella Martacho, sister: Delores (Don) Buchanan, Douglas, NE and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded death by his parents, his first wife Pat, infant daughter Marlene, step-son Patrick Lane, great granddaughter Riley Jane-Marie Perkins
Memorial Service with Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse, Nebraska, with Pastor Paul Coen officiating.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 P.M. until the start of the Prayer Service at 7 P.M. at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
In lieu in flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the family for a later designation.
