IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eula M
Swarts
December 9, 1918 – February 19, 2020
Eula Mae (née McLaughlin) Swarts passed away peacefully in her sleep 2/19/2020 at the age of 101. She was born on the family homestead in Elmwood Nebraska on 12/9/1918 to Leonard and Stella (Box) McLaughlin.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers (any and all sports), the color purple, Avon (which she sold for 50 years), playing UNO, and her family brought her much joy throughout her life. She will be remembered by many Elmwood alumnus as Eula worked at the school for many years. She will also be remembered by the many people who skated at the Elms Roller Rink in Elmwood, NE. She was known as the "purple lady" at Oxbow Living Center where she resided since fall 2019: this is where she discovered her love of competitive Bingo and was playfully nicknamed Miss Moneybags. We are so very grateful for the staff and wonderful care at Oxbow Living Center as well as St Croix hospice.
She is survived by her sister Mary Peterson, her children Keith Swarts (Jayme Nekuda) and Donna Amberly. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Christine Jicha-Huettner, Mark Jicha, Tracey Micheel, Sarah Swarts as well as 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren (with a 5 th on the way). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her family of friends at Oxbow Living Center and special 'UNO' players, Teri and JoAnn Nekuda.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dolor "Babe" Swarts and her siblings Howard (Hanora), Dale (Verna Weyers), and Robert (Alma), brother-in-law, Pete Peterson as well her faithful cats Katie, Flipper, and Goldie.
