Evelyn Marie Greta (Freudenberg) Giittinger, 85 was born January 30, 1934, to Herman and Lena (Kunz) Freudenberg in the family home at Avoca, Ne. She lived a full and meaningful life passing to eternity on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in Syracuse, NE.

She attended country school and graduated from Avoca High School in 1952. She received an Associates degree in Education from Peru State Teachers College and taught Country school in several different districts in Cass and Otoe County for 13 years.

On Monday, December 16, 1957, she married Melvin Giittinger at the United Congregational Church in Avoca. Born of this marriage were two children, Nick and Cindy.

She and Mel farmed near Dunbar. They owned and operated the Otoe Steakhouse for 20 years. Ev also worked at Nebraska City Manor and Valley View Nursing Home in Nebraska City as a Dietary Supervisor and was currently employed as an Environmental Service Tech with her daughter Cindy.

Ev enjoyed reading, bowling and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was a dedicated Syracuse Rocket fan and was thrilled to hold her new great-granddaughter Remi.

She was a longtime member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City and taught Sunday school for 15 plus years.

Survivors: Nick (Jenny) Lafayette, LA ; Cindy (Rhett) Snyder Otoe, NE Grandchildren: Paige Giittinger and fiancé Travis, Omaha, NE; Nikole (Gregory) Bader, Palmer, NE; Ty Snyder and fiancé Cassidy, Holdrege, NE, Nate Snyder, Otoe, NE; Brooke Snyder, Otoe, NE, Great-granddaughter Remi Bader; Brother-in-law Marvin (Murilla) Giittinger, Nieces, nephews, family and many friends.

Preceded in death by parents, husband Melvin (2013), parents-in-law Paul and Ella (Hermann) Giittinger; Brother: William, Sisters: Eda (Herb) Edwards, Dorothy (Jim) Moser, Brother-in-law Kenny (Wava) Giittinger, Sister-in-law Shirley (Jesse) Adams.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 10:30 A.M. at the Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
