Ferne M. Carper, 95 of Syracuse passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She was born on April 13, 1921 to Herbert J. & Emma (Holscher) Cameron in rural Burr, NE.
Ferne graduated from Burr high school and then attended Peru State College. She married Denzel M. Carper on May 25, 1944 at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. Ferne was a farmwife and loved working on the farm. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. Paulinus, Senior Citizen Group at Burr, Southeast Neb. Antique Tractor Pulling Assoc. and player for the Blue Birds a semi-pro softball team.
She is survived by her Son: Gene Carper of Burr, Jerry Carper of Burr, Robert (Lori) Carper of Syracuse, Michael Carper of Kearney, Teresa (Don) Goracke of Burr; Grandchildren: Justin Carper of Firth, Brent Carper of Firth, Angela (Brian) Fossler of Beatrice, Melissa Carper of Pickrell, Kelli Carper of Syracuse, Eva Carper of Portland, OR, Kimberly Carper of Kearney, Lea Carper of Kearney, Benjamin Goracke of Burr, Nicholas Goracke of Burr; Sister: Irma Taylor of Syracuse; Brother-in-law: John "Jack" (Twila) Carper of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and Daughter: Sharron Wilken.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday October 6 from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. at the funeral home, then at church with family greeting friends from 6:00 until time of Rosary at 7 P.M.
The family suggests memorials to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
