Forrest R. Halvorsen, 97 of Syracuse passed away on May 27, 2016 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1918 to Carl & Ella (Beers) Halvorsen in Syracuse, NE.

Forrest married Doii Tucker on October 21, 1945 and to this union they had Richard, Kenneth, Kathy and Nancy. Doii passed away in 1992. On June 21, 1995 he married Alice Sporhase until her death in 2005.

Forrest was a farmer and also was the owner of Halvorsen Floral & Greenhouse in Syracuse. He belonged to Mt. Moriah Lodge #57 A.F. & A.M., American Legion and VFW. He had a lifelong love of cars and belonged to the Corvair Club. He loved being with his grandchildren and traveling with Doii.

Forrest is survived by his Children: Richard Halvorsen of Lincoln, Kenneth (Dorothy) Halvorsen of Syracuse, Kathy Neubauer of Syracuse, Nancy (Randy) Crownover of Syracuse; 9 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Robert (Edith) Halvorsen of Lincoln; Sisters: Agnes Petersen of Syracuse, Violet (Wenninghoff) Whitaker of Kansas City, MO; Sister-in-law: Fawn Halvorsen of Lincoln, also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Doii Halvorsen, 2nd Wife: Alice (Sporhase) Halvorsen, Grandson: Russell Crownover, Brother: Marshall Halvorsen, Sisters: Esther Rosenthal & Irene Petersen.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 30 from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse United Methodist Church Building Fund or Syracuse Rescue Squad.
