Frances E. "Speed" Zeiger was born on June 29, 1925 in Rural Greeley County, Nebraska to Aaron Eldon and Clare Irene (Giles) Cary. She passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 21 days.
After finishing high school, Frances attended Normal Training and went to work as a Teacher, during WWII, she worked for the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, after which she returned to Teaching. She was united in marriage to Clarence Wayne Zeiger on March 27, 1947 in Oberlin, Kansas. Together the celebrated 63 years of marriage and raised four children, Ronald, Francis, Frederic and Angela. During their married life, she cared for their home, worked as a Postal Clerk and taught art classes around the area.
She was a member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse and belonged to the Altar Society and several Circle Groups. She enjoyed playing bridge, working with Oil paints and teaching art classes. For many years, she and Wayne enjoyed traveling, wintering in New Mexico and spending summers in Wyoming.
Frances was a 12th Generation Mayflower Decendent of Richard Warren, a family heritage that she was very proud.
She is survived by : Husband: Clarence "Wayne" Zeiger, Syracuse, NE; Children: Ronald Zeiger and wife Janet of Syracuse, NE; Francis "Clif" Zeiger and wife Aileen of Wheaton, IL; Frederic Zeiger and wife LeeAnn of Wilber, NE; Angela Ripa and husband Dale of Lincoln, NE; Grandchildren: Rachel Zeiger, Kenneth Zeiger, Steven Zeiger, Matthew Zeiger, Paul Zeiger, Lucas Zeiger, Abraham Zeiger, JohnMark Zeiger, Amelia Zeiger, Benjamin Zeiger, Cliff Zeiger, Lauren Ripa, Madeline Ripa, Anna Ripa. 8 Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Eulalia Cunningham of Iowa Falls, IA; Meta Mahoney of Cedar Rapids, NE; Brother: Jerry Cary of Greeley, NE. Also Survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bud Cary, sister Clara Vanderloop and grandchildren Ryan & Anthony Zeiger.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church – Syracuse, Nebraska with Rev. Father Michael Stec officiating.
Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery – Syracuse, Nebraska

VISITATION: Sunday, August 22nd from 9 AM until 9 PM with family greeting friends from 5 PM until 7 PM and Monday, August 23rd from 9 AM until 5 PM at the Funeral Home.
ROSARY: Altar Society – Monday, August 22nd 6:30 PM followed by a Parish Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church.
