Gary G. McConnell, age 81, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at The Waterford at Williamsburg in Lincoln.

Gary was born on July 16, 1943, in Auburn, to Edward Glenn "Hoot" and Wilma (Pulver) McConnell. He graduated from Auburn High School and began his working years at his family's Oliver/White implement dealership. Later, he went on to enjoy a long career at Goodyear in Lincoln, where he worked until his retirement.

On October 22, 1992, Gary married Opal Buchholz in Palmyra. He had many passions, including golfing, hunting, and target shooting. A true enthusiast, he also loved collecting Oliver tractors and cars over the years. More than anything, Gary treasured time spent on his farm, taking in the beauty and peace of the outdoors.

He is survived by his children Teresa (Kevin) Kaufman, Richard (June) McConnell, Kim McConnell, Tracey (Roger) Fischer; stepchildren Jonathan (Amy) Starr, Tammy (Andrew) Ingwerson, Amanda (Dave) Rabe; grandchildren Jason (Virginia) Franey, Jared Franey, Joshua McConnell, Nicole (Jacob) Loberg, Kelsie McConnell;  Ryker & Gannon Starr, Maicee & Teagon Ingwerson, Morgan Able, siblings Sandi Whitson, Susan (Jay) Von Bergen, Dennis (Rose) McConnell; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Opal, granddaughter Shelby Sibal and brother Robert McConnell.

Private family services will be held at the Unadilla Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Capital Humane Society in Lincoln.
