Gene Henry Meyer (Butch), age 94, of Louisville, NE, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. He was born on November 10, 1929, in Wabash, NE, to George and Pearl (Jardine) Meyer.

Gene married the love of his life, Peggy Lou Stratton, on June 23, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Louisville, NE. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories until Peggy's passing.

Gene began his working career as a farm hand at a young age.  He then joined the US Navy during the Korean War.  After returning home, he worked several jobs until he went to Ash Grove Cement Company where he enjoyed being a diesel mechanic.   During his younger years he also was a skilled tree trimmer.

Throughout his life, Gene actively participated in various organizations, notably serving as President of the Ash Grove Employee Union. He found joy in his hobbies, such as playing the guitar and enjoying Blue Grass music. Gardening held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in growing and sharing his tomatoes and other produce. Gene cherished quality time spent with family and found solace in his faith.
